Fujitsu General Group Releases Sustainability Data Book 2024
Acquires a Third-Party Assurance for Greenhouse Gas Emissions Disclosure
Fujitsu General Group has released the English edition of the Sustainability Data Book 2024, a report of our efforts and progress for sustainability, on the Group's website.
The Data Book shows our basic concepts, performance, and future agenda, regarding the Fujitsu General Group's initiatives to realize a sustainable society. Its ESG reporting framework provides information, split into environment, society, and governance categories, to help follow the international disclosure guidelines, referring the elements required by various guidelines including GRI Standards.
In this 2024 version of the Data Book, we introduce the Fujitsu General Group's latest data and commitments. It features improved contents, including our efforts to address social issues, such as those related to human resources, labor safety and health, and supply chain management.
In addition, the disclosed environment performance data is clearer and more reliable thanks to our acquiring third-party assurance from KPMG AZSA Sustainability Co., Ltd. in September 2024. This covers our greenhouse gas emissions on both a non-consolidated and consolidated basis.
Going forward, Fujitsu General Group also plans to publish an integrated report that presents financial and non-financial aspects of our efforts to enhance corporate value, focusing on the strategies for intermediate-and long-term growth. We continue to realize the Fujitsu General Way's philosophy of "Living together for our future," by providing substantial information for our stakeholders.
Acquirement of the Third-Party Assurance for Greenhouse Gass Emissions
Fujitsu General Group acquired third-party assurance from KPMG AZSA Sustainability Co., Ltd. in September 18, 2024, on our FY2023 greenhouse gas emissions on both a non-consolidated and consolidated basis.
Following FY2022, the assurance covers GHG emissions of Scope 1, 2, and Category 11 of Scope 3. It accounts for 96% of GHG emissions from the whole value chain of Fujitsu General Group. Fujitsu General Group succeeded, from FY202 onward, in our full-scale energy transition to renewable energy. Our use of electricity achieved net zero GHG emissions (market-based Scope 2).
In our third year of acquiring third-party assurance, on-site inspection at FT (Thailand)*1, was performed for the first time outside Japan. At the same time, we conducted an independent investigation at our four bases in Thailand*2 on environmental data of elements other than GHG, such as water and waste management. This is a measure to build an operational structure for uniform environmental data. The four bases in Thailand*2 are active in introducing renewable energies, installing solar panels on the roofs and solar streetlights within the sites.
Fujitsu General Group contributes to realizing a sustainable society (1) by promoting the replacement of fossil fuel appliances with heat pumps, devices that are highly effective in reducing GHG emissions, (2) by developing devices with high energy-saving performance to realize a low-carbon society, and (3) by creating a safe and secure society through its firefighting and disaster preventing businesses. Along with making such contributions through our business, we actively take on challenges in our own business operations to solve climate change and other social issues. This further accelerates the increased use of renewable energy rate, which is a key for decarbonization.
