Strengthening the activity for “Environmental Protection Program Stage VI”

Our company is positioning the environmental protection as one of the essential management issues and promoting the well-planned and continuous environmental activities. In FY2010 which is the first fiscal year of the “Environmental Protection Program Stage VI", we have nearly achieved the goals for all 15 themes. This time, we reviewed the goals for the activities and will strengthen the environmental activities by setting up higher goals.

“Environmental Protection Program Stage VI”
Development of environment protection products and technology
The ratio of Super Green Products which have industry's top level of environmental performance such as energy saving and resource saving shall be more than 30% of the models developed in each fiscal year. (Initial goal: More than 20%)
Reduction of energy consumption CO2 emission
- Energy consumption CO2 emission in overseas production bases shall be reduced by 25% in output basic unit compared to actual emission in FY2006. (Initial goal: 16%)
- Energy consumption CO2 emission in domestic products distribution shall be reduced by 40% in total compared to actual emission in FY2006. (Initial goal: 26%)
Expansion of activity range of Environmental Management System (EMS(*1))
The Certification of Environmental Management System has been acquired so far at all domestic business offices and group companies and overseas production bases individually, but in order to further strengthen the governance and company-wide environmental activities, we will aim to acquire Global Integrated Certification by FY2012. Furthermore, we started the activities for the establishment of EMS(*1) for overseas sales bases as well from last fiscal year and are planning to acquire the Global Integrated Certification for FY2012.
Restriction of wastes and PRTR(*2) subject chemical substance emission
- Emission of waste products in overseas production bases shall be reduced by 50% in output basic unit compared to actual emission in FY2009. (Initial goal: 30%)
- Emission of PRTR(*2) subject chemical substances in domestic production bases and overseas production bases shall be reduced by 80% in total compared to actual emission in FY2005. (Initial goal: 60%)
Protection of bio-diversity(*3) (New key issue)
This theme has been promoted as part of "Green Procurement Activity" since FY2010, but we will expand its range to the company-wide activity.

Development of environment protection products and technology

- Products which have industry's top level of environmental performance or are commended by the third party in environmental performance.

- Products which cleared 80 points of our voluntary standard "Product Environmental Assessment"(*)
