3-year environmental activity program from FY2010 to FY2012

Establishment of “Environmental Protection Program Stage VI”

Realizing that the activity for environmental protection is one of the key management issues, our company has been promoting the environmental activity by establishing the “Environmental Protection Program” since FY1993 based on the “Environmental Policy” which is the basic philosophy and conduct principles of the environmental activity for FG group. We have achieved all the activity goals in the “Environmental Protection Program Stage V” from FY2007 to FY2009.

In order to strengthen the activity for higher goals in the future, we established the “Environmental Protection Program Stage VI” as 3-year environmental activity program from FY2010 to FY2012.

In the “Environmental Protection Program Stage VI”, we set up 4 key issues and activity goals for the reduction of environmental impact which will be implemented through the business activities of FG group aiming to further strengthen the activity for global environmental protection.

Outline of “Environmental Protection Program Stage VI” of Fujitsu General Group

Key issues:

  1. Development of environmental protection products and technologies to reduce the global environmental impact throughout the product lifecycle.
  2. Reduction of energy consumption CO2 emission in the domestic bases, overseas production bases and domestic product logistics.
  3. Establishment of Environmental Management System (EMS) for the material suppliers of overseas sales bases and production bases.
  4. Suppression of emission of waste products and PRTR subject chemical substances.

Subject bases:

Japan: Kawasaki head office, business offices, sales bases, service bases, affiliated companies

Overseas: Production bases, sales bases

April 1, 2010 – March 31, 2013 (3 years)

Key issues Goals up to the end of FY2012
Development of environmental protection products and technologies to reduce the global environmental impact throughout the product lifecycle
  1. Designating all products to be newly developed in FY2010 and thereafter as environmentally-friendly products “Green products”(*1)
  2. Designating more than 20% of the models developed in each fiscal year as “Super green products”(*2)
  3. Development of further energy-saving technology
Reduction of energy consumption CO2 emission in the domestic bases, overseas production bases and domestic product logistics
  1. Energy consumption CO2 emission in domestic bases:
    25% reduction in total compared to actual emission in FY1990
  2. Energy consumption CO2 emission in overseas production bases:
    16% reduction in output basic unit compared to FY2006
  3. Energy consumption CO2 emission in domestic products logistics:
    26% reduction in total compared to actual emission in FY2006
Establishment of Environmental Management System (EMS) for the material suppliers of overseas sales bases and production bases
  1. Acquisition of ISO14001 in overseas sales bases
  2. Support of EMS establishment in material suppliers of overseas production bases
Suppression of emission of waste products and PRTR subject chemical substances
  1. Emission of waste products in domestic bases and overseas sales bases:
    30% reduction in total compared to actual emission in FY2009
  2. Emission of waste products in overseas production bases:
    30% reduction in output basic unit compared to actual emission in FY2009
  3. Emission of PRTR subject chemical substances in domestic production bases and overseas production bases:
    60% reduction in total compared to actual emission in FY2005

Note

*1 Green products :
“Green products” means the products which enhanced environmental performance such as energy saving, resource saving, reduction of hazardous substances from current products.
*2 Super green products :
“Super green products” means the products which have industry's top level of environmental performance or considerably improved performance compared to our current products.
EMS:
Environmental Management System (System and guideline relating to environmental protection activity. e.g.: International Standard ISO14001)
PRTR:
Pollutant Release and Transfer Register (Law relating to the promotion of comprehension and management of emission of specified chemical substances to the environment. e.g.: xylene and toluene to be used when manufacturing motors in case of our company)
