Fujitsu General Electronics Ltd. received “Chairman Award of 2008 Tohoku 7 Prefecture Electricity Effective Use Promotion Committee” as 2008 energy management excellent company

Fujitsu General Electronics Ltd. (100% owned by our company, hereinafter “FGEL”), which is bracing our company’s electronics device business, received “Chairman Award of 2008 Tohoku 7 Prefecture Electricity Effective Use Promotion Committee” as an excellent company in energy management. The awarding ceremony was held in Sendai on February 18.

FGEL had been implementing energy conservation measures such as lighting management of fixtures and equipment until 2003. As an example of the activity, FGEL decreased factory energy basic unit by 27.4% from 15.7kl/prodution output (100 million yen) in 2004 to 11.4kl/production output (100 million yen) in 2007 through such measures as efficiency enhancement of compressors for own use, individual management of lighting equipment, improvement of equipment used in high temperature such as reflow oven and drying furnace.

Such activities and actual results were appraised and Chairman Award of the Committee was given to FGEL as an excellent factory in energy management.

As main energy conservation activities, FGEL is placing importance on the following 5 items:

  1. Efficiency enhancement of compressors used by the factory
  2. Individual management of lighting equipment
  3. Integration of production area
  4. Heat insulation of high temperature equipment such as reflow oven, drying furnace, high temperature tank

Efficiency enhancement of compressors
  • Checked air leakage from the compressors generating air used for production facility and press and from the piping installed in the whole factory using a leakage tester. Enhanced the efficiency of compressors by checking and maintenance of the air leakage.

Heat insulation of high temperature equipment
  • Insulated the heat generated from the equipment by making heat shielding and heat insulating painting on the high temperature equipment such as reflow oven, drying furnace, high temperature tank. The equipment was procured from external supplier but made to our specifications, and the maintenance was made by ourselves. By this, the temperature rise in the room was suppressed and the energy-saving of the air conditioning was realized as the temperature of the furnace itself was kept stable.
