"Class A"(*1) large-size ceiling cassette type air conditioners for Europe
Releasing two models(AUYA30LBLU/AUYA36LBLU)

Our company will release two models of large-size ceiling cassette type air conditioners ranked as "Class A"(*1) which is the highest energy-saving performance in the European "Energy Labeling Regulation" at the middle of June.

Herewith, we realized the full model lineup in the models ranked as "Class A"(*1) along with ceiling type and duct type which are already on sale in the European market.

The demand for air conditioners in Europe in 2007 has reached about 7.73 million sets(*2) which means the growth of 16% over the previous year in contrast to the sluggish American and Japanese markets. Above all, the market for middle and large size air conditioners for office and store use which we are targeting this time is steadily growing with total demand of about 810,000 sets(*2), 9%(*2) over the previous year.

Furthermore, the regulations for energy efficiency of air conditioners in Europe are becoming increasingly severe due to the requirement for the measures against the global environment problems, and the stricter regulation for "Energy Labeling" system and the expansion of the preferential treatment for energy-saving products are being promoted.

Under those circumstances, our company tackled the development of energy-saving and high function models of middle and large size air conditioners and realized the full model lineup in the category of "Class A"(*1), the highest energy-saving performance in the "Energy Labeling Regulation" in the European market by releasing large ceiling cassette type air conditioners with full model change.

The indoor units of new products equipped with such new element technology as high efficient turbo fan, "wing shape" flap of air blowing opening, high efficient large-size new heat exchanger create comfortable air flow with high efficiency. By these functions, the energy-saving performance has improved by 12%(*3) compared with conventional models.

At the same time, the small-in-size and light-in-weight designing, less than 2/3(*3) compared with conventional models both in volume and weight, has been pursued in the new outdoor units (AOYA36LBTL) by the energy and material saving designing.

    1. Increasing airflow volume and equalizing wind speed distribution of heat exchanger by the development of "high efficiency 3-dimentional wing" turbo fan

    4. Expanding air inlet area by changing the shape of air inlet opening of air inlet grille from "dot type" to "slit type"

    Enabling easier installation and maintenance for installers by incorporating the functions to improve work efficiency and reviewing the structure
    • Providing corner pockets at four corners of indoor unit panel
    • Providing drain opening to the grille aperture
    • Adopting lift drain pump

Energy-saving performance improved by 12%(*3) compared with conventional model by new functions

The new ceiling cassette type indoor unit is incorporating high efficiency turbo fan, "wing shape" flap of air blowing opening and new heat exchanger to create efficient and comfortable air flow. By these functions, the energy-saving performance improved by 12%*4 compared with conventional model.

i) Increasing airflow volume and equalizing wind speed distribution of heat exchanger by the development 3 of"high efficiency 3-dimentional wing" turbo fan

Airflow volume increased by enlarging the aperture of turbo fan from conventional φ450mm toφ500mm and also wind speed distribution to heat exchanger was equalized by changing the wing shape of turbo fan from conventional linear type to "3-dimentional wing" type. The development of this "high efficiency 3-dimentional wing" turbo fan realized low noise operation along with improvement of energy-saving performance.

ii) Expanding airflow range by "wing shape" flap of air blowing opening

Airflow range was expanded by changing the "wing shape" flap from "linear type" to "wing shape" Making use of the characteristics of "wing shape" flap, the horizontal airflow range doubled compared with conventional model reaching up to 7m and the vertical airflow range increased to reach up to 4m. By this improvement, the airflow reaches quickly even to the corners of the room which was not possible with conventional model so that energy-saving effect as well as comfortable air conditioning are realized. Furthermore, the air blowing opening was widened in order to send air more widely to keep the temperature of the whole room even.



iii) Realizing efficient heat exchange by new heat exchanger with expanded capacity

By uniting heat exchangers into one piece, the loss of air at the connection part was eliminated. Furthermore, the heat exchanging capacity increased by 8% compared with conventional model by changing from conventional L-shape to the type without joint.
In the conventional model, two units of heat exchangers with the length of 970mm each were mounted, but in the new model, one unit of large-size heat exchanger of 2,100mm long is installed, by which the heat exchange capacity increased by 8% and the energy-saving performance improved.

iv) Expanding air inlet area by changing the shape of air inlet opening of air inlet grille from "dot type" to lit type"

The conventional air inlet grille had an opening of "dot type" but in the new model, air inlet area was expanded by 55% to increase air inlet volume by changing it to "slit type".

Also, the appearance was changed to basic design so as not to harm the ceiling interior design and spoil the high grade image.

Easier installation and maintenance work

In the new model, easier installation and maintenance work was realized by incorporating the functions to enhance the work efficiency of installer and reviewing the structure.

  • By providing corner pockets at four corners of indoor unit panel, fine horizontal adjustment after mounting the main body can be made without removing the panel so that the installation time is considerably shortened.

  • By providing drain opening to the grille aperture, drainage of water in the dew tray can be made without removing the panel.

  • By adopting high lift drain pump (increasing from 750mm to 850mm), installation can be made easier for various types of ceiling and construction structure.

The "Energy Labeling" in Europe is the regulation to oblige the notation of energy consumption dividing energy efficiency into 7 steps from "Class A" to "Class G" and applied to the air conditioners with cooling capacity of less than 12kW.
