Contents of Award

CEDIA, standing for Custom Electric Design & Installation Association, is an association of home electric appliance installers who design and install home entertainment equipment such as AV equipment, lighting fixtures, home automation, security system, and CEDIA EXPO is the event and exhibition for CEDIA members.

The SHOOT OUT is a method of fairly deciding order of merit of picture quality through voting by visitors during the exhibition, without disclosing the name of exhibitor, by inputting same image to video equipment of various exhibitors participating in the event. This is a very important event by which installers can select video equipment with real high quality picture without preconception.

Our company has been pursuing the optimum video signal processing technology for digital device with digital video signal processing technology as a core competence. The award winning this time is a result of the high quality picture produced by the video processing engine "AVM-II" incorporated in the plasma display and LCD projector having been highly evaluated by the visitors.

Our plasma display is recognized as No.1 brand in Australia in the quality of product and picture, and we will further enhance the brand image for the video equipment taking this opportunity of winning the "Best Award".

Plasma display realizes the display of high picture quality through two technologies of "Panel drive control technology" which controls the discharge of panel and "Video signal processing technology" which optimizes the video signal.

Since launching the world's first full color plasma display in 1993, we have been researching and developing the digital video signal processing technology which draws out PDP's performance to the maximum adapting to light emitting principle and drive system of PDP. Our high picture quality technology has been recognized and highly valued world-wide such as developing "AVM" system using the industry’s first single chip LSI in 2001 and receiving the "Emmy Award" in 2002, being the only plasma display which received this award.

The "AVM-II" is featured with following new technologies which have been developed by further evolving the high precision and high performance of video processing circuit obtained through our company’s accumulated know how and adapting to the world-wide move to shift to digital broadcasting and spread of digital storage such as HD recorder.

  • "Digital noise reduction" suppressing the digital noise generated when editing and transmitting digital images
  • "Low brightness multi gradation processing" enhancing gradation display in dark pictures up to 1019 colors matching the characteristic of human eyes
  • "Natural color tuning" thoroughly pursuing the faithfulness of color reproduction through human eyes and recognizing and correcting the hue for each pixel
  • "IAP (Image Adaptive Processing" automatically recognizing the contents of picture of each part in the screen and displaying the text clearly and persons or landscape smoothly.

High picture quality display beyond our conventional concept has been made possible by linking each processing according to various types of input signals or display pictures through integration of high picture quality circuits of our own development including above new technology by "High Definition Digital Multi Conversion (HDDMC)" technology.
