The world-wide demand of the plasma display, which is said to be the most promising next generation large-size video display equipment, is estimated to reach 2 million sets in 2003, and further expansion is expected by the reducing of production cost and the improvement of quality.
The application is also expected to spread to such area as commercial information in transportation or public facilities and entertainment or home theater.
New Development of Full Digital Video Processor
We have newly developed the world's first full digital video processor
for plasma display making use of the technological know-how of digital
video processing accumulated since having launched the world's first
plasma display in the market in 1993.
The newly developed full digital video processor realized the lower
production cost by the reduction of the number of parts and components,
lower power consumption and considerable improvement of reliability
by integrate the conventional 3-chip LSI of signal processing to
single chip LSI.
In addition to conventional functions such as “Adjust-to-movement IP(*1) conversion processing”, “High definition expansion/reduction filter processing”, “Expansion/reduction fluttery type contour emphasis processing”, a new technology of “High definition digital multi conversion HDDMC(*2) system” was adopted, which considerably improved the gradation representability of low brightness screen and made it possible to reproduce a clear, sharp and real image, thus realizing the industry's top level of high function and high picture quality.

Main features of newly developed full digital video processor
- The further integration of internal circuit from 3-chip composition to single chip adopting the state-of-the-art technology incorporating 0.14 µm DRAM has made it possible to lower the cost (about 42% less than our previous model), reduce the power consumption (about 74% less) and improve the function/performance considerably as well as to reduce the number of parts and components (about 60% less) realizing the considerable improvement of reliability.

adopted in addition to the system/ performance already developed exclusively
for plasma display such as “Adjust-to-movement IP(*1) conversion
processing”, “High definition expansion/reduction filter
processing”, “Expansion/reduction fluttery type contour

definition digital signal processing of component video input signal”

New Release of Plasmavision®W - World Wide -(PDS4229)
We will start selling a new series of 42-inch wide plasma display
”Plasmavision®W” in domestic and overseas
markets in April. The new series, equipped with a newly developed
full digital video processor, has realized the industry's highest
level of picture quality with reduce power consumption and high
reliability.
The new ”Plasmavision®W”, equipped with such
high functions as color temperature adjustment, on-screen display
in addition to above-mentioned features, has realized the most suitable
model for an effective business presentation as a result of the
thoroughgoing pursuit of the specifications required for the application
of business information and presentation. Weighing only 28.5kg,
the lightest in the world among 42-inch plasma displays, the installation
has become much easier.

2.Automatic clock phase adjustment to always display clear pictures
In the past, in order to display clearly the high resolution
video signal of PC, the clock phase adjustment to synchronize
PC signal with plasma display had to be made manually.
The new Plasmavision®W series can always display
a clear picture by making the optimum phase correction automatically.
3.Improvement of reliability by full digitalization of peripheral circuits
The reliability has considerably improved by fully digitalizing the peripheral circuits, which enabled the substantial reduction of the number of parts (by about 50%), together with the development of full digital video processor.

High quality picture can be reproduced as it is possible to connect
directly to the component video terminals of the set top box for receiving
digital broadcast or DVD player, etc.

The mini D-SUB15P input terminal corresponding to XGA high resolution input signal is equipped for PC. High quality picture can be displayed as it is possible to connect directly to the set top box for receiving digital broadcast which has RGB output.

4.WIDE function
The optimum display for the signals of various aspect ratios can be made by WIDE function of Normal/Wide 1/Wide 2/Zoom 1/Zoom 2.

Variety of functions enabling the effective business presentations
1.Color temperature adjustment function to adjust to your desired tint
As the fine adjustment of white balance can be made at your option, this function is conveniently used for adjusting to your desired tint or reshooting at the broadcasting stations or color matching when two or more plasma displays are used.
2.On-screen display available for vertical and horizontal installation (such as input mode or menu)
The vertical installation can be made to suit to the program contents such as advertisement display. The screen display of input mode or menu is available for the vertical installation as well.
3.Control terminal enabling remote operation to switch the power on/off or input mode
With RS-232C terminal, it is possible to switch the power on/off or input mode from PC.
4.Input signal priority function to return to the specified screen anytime (Automatic display of priority picture)
When the signal of the specified contents with priority is received, the input mode is automatically switched to the specified signal.
5.Display ID function enabling individual control for up to 4 sets
When two or more displays are installed, the
display can be controlled individually from one remote control
unit by assigning the monitor number for each display.
This function is useful when making adjustment or maintenance
for individual screen in case of such installations as 2 vertical
displays x 2 horizontal displays or 4 horizontal displays.
World's lightest display and improved installation
The lightest weight in the world, only 28.5kg, has been realized by the thoroughgoing reduction of the weight of structural parts and components by our simulation technology and the development of new case, enabling the easier installation.
Screen orbiter function to reduce the phosphor burn-in of the screen
This function reduces the screen burn-in by automatically moving the display position at certain interval for longer life of the display.
Low noise designing (24dB(*3))
The quiet operation of the equipment used for home or business presentation is more and more demanded. The fan noise has been reduced and the low noise designing of 24dB(*3) has been realized by the heat radiation designing adapting to the outdoor temperature and the optimization of flow passage of new case structure.
The business presentation in a quiet room or the quiet environment for enjoying home theater is now available.
