Fujitsu General at AHR Expo 2024, One of the Largest HVACR Trade Shows in the World

Ready to roll out use of R-32 refrigerant for a more carbon-neutral society

Fujitsu General will be showcasing its AIRSTAGE brand of air conditioners for international markets at AHR Expo 2024 in Chicago during January 22-24, 2024. AHR Expo is one of the world's largest trade shows dedicated to heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVACR).

Viewing North America as one of our key markets, we are working to expand our lineup of large VRFs and other products, strengthening ties with local partners. At this year's show, we will introduce R-32 refrigerant in the North American market, along with heat pump air conditioners and control equipment.

The Fujitsu General Group is dedicated to "Sustainable Management." This means working to shape a more sustainable society through our business activities, together with our customers. One of our key themes in this effort is "Contributing to the Earth." At this show we are taking our commitment to this market to a new level, with products aimed at meeting environmental needs. This includes our adoption of R-32 refrigerant for cutting greenhouse gas emissions.

[New regulations in the North American market and our response to them]

The AIM Act(*1) was enacted in the USA to gradually reduce emissions of HFCs (hydrofluorocarbons). The law mandates an 85% reduction in HFC emissions by 2036. In accordance with this law, all equipment that uses a refrigerant or gas fuel that has a significant impact on global warming will be regulated. The new law has led to growing environmental awareness in the USA. R-32 is a refrigerant with a lower global warming potential than conventional refrigerants. It is now drawing a lot of interest for its ability to help air conditioners comply with the new regulations. Use of R-32 in the North American market is expected to grow substantially over the coming years.

Fujitsu General is developing R-32-based products for North America. At AHR Expo 2024, we will use product displays and an explanatory video to communicate the appeal of air conditioners that are more environmentally friendly and energy-efficient.
